In the vision of a policy of bringing consumers closer to drinking water production services, the Water Distribution Company of Côte d'Ivoire (Sodeci) opened on December 13, 2017, the doors of its assembly plant and rehabilitation of meters to consumer associations.
This visit to the premises of the Society of African Counters (Soca), located in the industrial zone of Yopougon, was on the instructions of the Minister of Economic Infrastructure, Dr Amédé Koffi Kouakou. And this, on the occasion of his press conference presenting the program “ Water for all “, held on September 15th. Where, these representatives of consumer associations have expressed their reservations about the results of the verification of cold water meters, to which they say they are not associated.
Thus, in the company of the Director General of the National Drinking Water Office (Onep), Berté Ibrahiman and that of Sodeci, Eba Basile, these consumer associations visited the facilities of this factory.
At the end of the visit, their spokesperson Doukoua Godé, President of the National Federation of Consumer Associations of Côte d'Ivoire said: " We are satisfied and reassured both in the assembly and in the process of repairing the old meters. We had doubts. But we realized that it's a whole new system that is put back inside the case as part of the repair of the meters ". The CEO of Sodeci thus invited all consumers to have confidence in water meters.
For his part, the Director General of Onep, Berté Ibrahiman welcomed this guided tour, “ which allowed consumers to learn about the nature of the meters, all the elements that compose them, as well as the system put in place for invoicing ». « This contributes to the fight against the high cost of living “, he meant. Before indicating that the offices of Onep and those of Sodeci remain open to consumers to receive their various complaints.
Berté Ibrahiman also reminded all consumers that Onep now has a Consumer Relations Center (CRC) that can be reached at 22514700 or by e-mail to, callcenter.onep@gmail.com /callcenter@onepci.net. He specified that this center listens to users of drinking water. In particular, in terms of complaints not satisfied by Sodeci, failure of drinking water supply systems, problems related to water quality. This center also allows you to benefit from personalized advice regarding the use of drinking water at home, etc.
On behalf of the Minister of Commerce, Handicrafts and the Promotion of SMEs, Souleymane Diarrassouba, the director of metrology, control, quality and the repression of fraud, Yapi Georges Kouassi indicated that a law adopted in 2016 allows this ministerial department to ensure the reliability of water meters and to impose sanctions on both sides.
